You're all too clever!

Hi everyone!
Yup... april fools!
I'm glad I didn't get many of you, did you really think I'd leave you all? No way!

ANYWAY I know I have been REALLY backed up with posts... please be patient with me as for the next week or so they might be a little al over the place...

First cab off the rank... my nails for the Obsidian Lace photoshoot! I know technically you've seen them in the other photos I posted but I don't know how many of you saw them (or saw how bony my wrists are or my freaky long hands! I'll wait here while you check.... back? Okay!)

I'm not going to post a billion shots of this one as it's simple and my application was a bit dodgy because I was in a rush. I used stargazer's white for the base, used reinforcements and painted over with colour club's after hours.
I'd love any ideas you may have for nails for future photoshoots! I'd like them to be mostly gothic style, preferably in monochrome colours.

Toxin's Lipstick... [Huge post, image heavy]

Hi everyone!
Just a quick little post to show you what I got in the mail.

First off, yes I know about the drama. No, I don't really care. I bought these on eBlah-y. I've heard A LOT of reviews that say these are either AMAZING or AWFUL.
I went with the two colours that a) I would probably wear and b) seem to have fared better in most reviews.

What am I talking about?

Yup. I did it. And yes they look like sex toys... I showed a girl at work today (HAHA ME AT WORK *dies*) and she was frightened. The poor girl had no idea what I was about to do when in the bathroom I pulled it out of my handbag for a touchup. She was very relieved to find it was only a lipstick.

These are the two I got, Retrofuturist and Styletto.

Surprisingly, I like them! I have issues with lipstick, usually being that I forget that I have it on and wipe it all over my face or eat it off so it's patchy. Also, I can't get kisses from Jai. I wore the red to work, and it really is red. I have Urban Decay's "Jezebel" (discontinued) which I always thought was a kablam red. This is my new kablam red, it really is a true red, very bright with no blue or orange undertones.

Now for my review of these...

Retrofuturist.
First off, I was a little disappointed.
The colour was great, packaging is... sex toy-esque, and yes, they kinda smell like MAC, but my issue is that it was slightly busted before I got to try it on.
When i opened it i wound it up very very carefully as I've read a few reviews where Retrofuturist is broken, and didn't want it falling on the carpet in case that happened with my tube, it wasn't broken off, but it did have a mark on the side.
The first time putting it on I noticed it was wobbling a hell of a lot. After taking it to work today it sweated a little and seems to have gone melty at the bottom.
I've used it twice now and it's pretty much broken off at the bottom.

So now I apply it with a lip brush while it's only wound up a teensy bit, allowing me to be much more careful.
The pics above are done with a brush, blotted, then applied from the tube.
The colour ends up the same either way, though this little guy stains quite a bit.

(After almost 15 hours I took it off... to find this.)

It's not as drying as I've read, and has a semi-matte texture. It stays really well without annoying me, if any lipstick feels gunky I can't forget I'm wearing it and usually end up taking it off after 5 minutes. I wore this all day (from 7.30am until 10pm - minus taking it off to swatch Styletto) and only reapplied 4 times including the swatch above.

It's really soft feeling, not chunky, not dry, not glossy, not goopy, awesome colour and overall, I like it. I'm not completely convinced about Lime Crime's other colours, the swatches look really either really patchy or like they're wearing the entire tube or photoshopped, though from my experience, even with the melty/breaky/staining formula, I think I'd buy it again.

Styletto
Sorry for my wonky application on this one!
Black is hard to do perfectly, whether it's eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow or lipstick, and if you stuff it up, it's screamingly obvious.
This one was pretty good. When I first opened the tube it was picture perfect, now the side has a mark just like R.
It feels soft and creamy and kind of "light" compared to most other dark lipsticks, but you can still feel that it's there.
This is a true black that fades out to a grey - not a purple.
In the pics above it doesn't look that way - that's because I wore Retrofuturist all day and it stained my lips, so that's the red tones you can see above.

Here's a swatch picture on my hand to prove it.

This one stains too, as you can see below.
I had this on my hand for long enough to set up the photo above, snap it, then find a paper towel.

Okay, I have a confession.
This is my first ever black lipstick.
I was always afraid of looking like a goth kid using halloween makeup or a juggalo.

Not what we want... so I avoided it. Sure I had dark purples and deep dark colours that were *almost* black - but they weren't. So I finally took the plunge.
You know what? I'm glad I did.
I love it.
It's severe, and at the same time I think it looks good, not teenager shoplifting from a halloween store at all. I mostly bought it for photoshoots, but I think I'd happily wear it out clubbing. Maybe not to work...

Black lipstick is becoming more mainstream, MAC did it with their Style Black collection (from which I got two liglosses) and Catwalks are going mad with it.
When I took the shot of Styletto on, the shape of my lips reminded me of this:

Unfortunately what I was going for was more of this:

So all in all, Lime Crime, you have a goth's black lipstick cherry.

Gumleaf Mafia

Hello Ladies!

First off I would love to give a HUUGE shout-out to all the ladies of the Gumleaf mafia! It's great to see that even though we can be a bit limited, there are some Aussies (and Kiwis!) with AWESOME polish skills.
I've popped them in my sidebar - if you haven't seen their stuff yet - check them out!

Secondly, I have no new nails to post today because I'm loving my half moon mani a little bit too much!
It is monday morning after all...

So until we resume you to your usual polishing madness, have some cuteness.

And here are some pictures of me looking pretty. Yaaay. (Psuedo make-up post?) (Clickable!)

Wait a second... whats that on my hands in the last pic?
I managed to get a pic of some nail polish in here after all!
That one was Stargazer's "Gothic French Manicure" set.
Is it sad that 8 months on I remember that?

A bit of class...

Hello ladies!

I know i'm a bit later than usual with my posts - I am trying to get my sleeping pattern back to normal!

After my last manicure I felt so damned gaudy... I felt like I had to step it up a bit.
This usually happens - after wearing black I tend to go for something totally different, then that ends up feeling like it was way too overkill so I usually go back to black.

But somehow I don't think that me having every other post with black nails will quite cut it, will it now?

So I went for something a bit different.
I still wanted something vampy, but something warm, something with class.
Originally I was going to go with a red but I found this in my little box of tricks and couldn't stop staring at the bottle! I made it a bit different by doing a half moon manicure with it.

I did this last night before going to sleep so excuse the sheet marks! Ack!

But isn't this colour just DIVINE?!
It's a burgundy purply elixir.

This one is "High Mantenance" by ChiChi - an Aussie brand.
Find out about them here:
http://www.chichicosmetics.com/story.htm

I love ChiChi - the names are amazing - Mortisha, Mermaid, Jitterbug - too cute! Also, most of them go for the sort of names like -"Plain Jane" "Movie Star" "Soapie Addict" "Paparazzi Princess" "High Heeled Housewife" "Corporate Femme".
Not to mention it applies like a DREAM.
This is two coats but it would have been fine with one - Except I'm a total doofus and bumped one of my fingers.

The moons are the "natural" colour from a french manicure kit by Sally Hansen - this one is "Sheer Romance".
But seriously, Sally Hansen? Natural? I'm a half british goth and that is in no way natural on ANY LIVING PERSON.
Also - it applies HORRIBLY.
It streaks and its sheer in a way that you end up with gross patchy globs.
Originally I just wanted a wash of colour but it just wouldn't work for me.
So I ended up just applying until it was opaque.
I lost count at 6 coats. SIX!!!!
Has anyone else tried these?

So what do you think?
I can't stop looking at my nails because of how much this colour ROCKS.

Awesome giveaways and valentines nails!

http://www.kraseybeauty.com/2010/01/giveaway-time-krasey-beautys-one-year.html
$1000 worth of AWESOME. Check this OUT!!!

Now for your main event of this morning (evening?)

First off we have me trying the technique to remove glitter nail polish from my Goobie Goober post using nail polish remover, cotton pads and foil. Except I didn't have any foil so I used cling-wrap! It didn't work as well because it was really hard to get the cling wrap to stick to itself because it was wet. Bleh.

Here's what I got, before:

during:
Yay! Tape!

and after:
Hahahaha wrinkly!

Not too bad - though it would have worked much better with foil, it was still much less of a nightmare than usual! The remaining glitters came off really easily and felt kind of "melty" and floppy.

Now for my latest manicure - I wanted to give the Konad another go. Unfortunately I only have one plate so it's going to look a bit familiar.

I added some red diamantes and little diamante hearts to my thumbs.

Then I decided this was altogether way too boring and not valentines inspired at all.
So I kept going...

Much nicer! the girl at the shop yesterday almost had a tiny conniption when she saw them!
What do you think?

In love right now....

Have you seen the "Love Lace" collection from Mac? Its GORGEOUS. I'm totally planning to try a few of these looks for myself! So far I only have a couple of Mac products (my poor wallet) but I think I need to raid the counter again sometime soon! Have a look:

What do you say? Do you want to see my mug smothered in my attempts at makeup?

Here's one I did some time ago...

Zombie Foots

Hello my lovelies!
I bought some craft sponges from a hardware store to do some gradients!
I've seen this idea on another blog  - (unfortunately I can't seem to find it again - if its you, let me know and you will get credit where it's due!) and thought it was just too awesome not to try!
Unfortunately I've run out of nail polish remover so I still have my black and white konad on so while my boyfriend was playing Fallout 3 I painted his toenails!

I was originally going to try something different but wanted to keep it GothBoy friendly so zombie it is!

Here's some pics I took pre cleanup:

Can you see the dark green shimmer in the blackish polish? The green glows under UV - it's still dark green but it definitely has a slight glow - how strange!

And after cleanup (Well, a shower):

What do you think?  I would have LOVED to have had some Matte TC to put over the top - but OH WELL...

Please be kind - it's my first shot at using sponges and i'm still trying to work out how much polish to load them with.
How do you do it?
I just painted it on the sponge but when that wasn't enough i put it over the mouth of the nail polish bottle and gave it a shake!
That turned out to be a little too much.
Next time i might just put a blob on, say, an empty ice cream container lid, then pick some up with the sponge.

Do they make you think of zombies? Or something else? All i can say is the Boy is content with his zombie polish. :)

Kitty's First Konad!

Hello lovelies!

I know I said I would find my disc yesterday (I did - I found it three hours ago) but that means - Konad piccies! Whee!

Please excuse my amateurish photos and streaky konad - but for a first go I'm quite proud!

I used The Face Shop black with white Konad Special Polish with Stargazer Clear Top Coat. I stuck some diamantes on and then threw some gobs of clear on the top - but as you can see it bubbled a bit.
Obviously I need to get some Seche Vite Top Coat... and not put such big globs on... haha! I used plate m62 for these.

And OH GOD it looks so much worse when you can see everything close up! My cuticles are horrid and please excuse the random fluff on EVERYTHING...

Let me know what you think! :)

Sunday Bloody Sunday....

Please excuse the title. However, it IS Sunday and I meet it with not exactly open arms...

My computer and my camera are having a very firm disagreement (in which it appears my computer is giving my camera the silent treatment...) which means until I locate the software... no pictures from me! I promise I will do it tomorrow... I will!

I thought instead I would make a post in which you can still feast your pretty eyes on...
SO... Now for some lovely Aussie gothy goodies that I have been hankering for!

HOW CUTE IS THIS!? This dress is from Canberra designers "Raven." They had a cute little shop in the middle of the city that was my saving grace growing up in Canberra. They had everything a fledgling goth could need! Black nail polish and lipstick, clothes from brands like lip service - as well as their own designs, pots of Manic Panic hair dye... Lush. Unfortunately they closed up shop on the 1st of January of this year. The good part is - they're concentrating on their clothing designs! So we can expect more goodies like this! Click the pic to go to the site.

You must have been living under a rock to not have heard of Gallery Serpentine! Simply amazing corsetry designers from Sydney! Sometimes I think we Aussie alternative kids have it easy! Click the pic to go to the site.

There are way too many Aussie designers for me to mention in just one post! (If anyone wants to see more - let me know!) But i just HAD to mention Dolly Q.
Dolly Q is the brainchild of Danielle Carson. I first met Dani when she gave me a job working at Dracula's Cabaret Theatre Restaurant! (The two lovely models below worked at Drax too!) Soon after she left Drax to work on Dolly Q - her work is DIVINE and I would spend every paycheck on it if it meant I got to look this gorgeous! Click the pic to go to the site.

And one last thing I simply had to mention - Wildilocks - here in gorgeous Melbourne (and Perth too!) They are an alterative hairdressing salon - as well as having some of the best clothes - with gorgeous well known brands like Phaze (UK) along home grown Aussie designers. They have a webstore too! Oh - and I have to add - if you dye your hair mad colours try Special Effects. Just try it... you'll wonder how you ever lived without it! Click the pic to go to the site.

So what do you think of Australia now? Let me know what you think!
